Cashew

A tropical evergreen tree that produces the cashew seed and the cashew apple grows well in sandy soils in various countries in the world.
Cashew mainly grows and is produced in Vietnam, India, Côte d’Ivoire, Philippines, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Colombia, Thailand, Malaysia, Togo, Senegal, Madagascar and Sri Lanka.
Germany and the Netherlands are the leading importers of cashew. Cashew believed to be originated from Brazil and many of the cashews were produced from Africa and India in ancient time.

There are four different types of cashew nuts that is suitable for export and the cashew nut types are W210, W240, W320, Ww450.
A seed planted today would take about 3 to 5 years to produce its first batch of fruit. Cashew is harvested two months after the fruit becomes ripe, when the cashew apple turns on pink or red colour and the nut turns gray.
The by-products of cashew are juices, jams, beverages, cookies, cereals, oils, butter, sauce, paste, wines and for other products like topping on ice-cream, chocolates and cakes etc.
